I spend a lot of my time curating spaces I think this community will benefit from, a listing, an event, a newsletter, a business. Lately, I was talking with a friend about what it’s like to build something from the very beginning. Living here on the Treasure Coast has given us that opportunity: a place still open enough to create something new and carve out that space ourselves. Its not without its challenges - building from scratch never is - but I believe it’s going to be so worth it.
This week’s issue carries a little of that spirit. We’ve got a full weekend (and then some) of things to do, a growth roundup that shows just how fast this region is moving, a my latest listing, and a trades story that hits close to home for Glen and me. Let’s get into it.

VBMA "Jill Nathanson" Exhibit Opens — Sat, July 25 | Vero Beach Museum of Art. A brand-new exhibition from artist Jill Nathanson opens this weekend.
Downtown Stuart Car & Bike Show — Sat, July 25, 9am | Downtown Stuart.
Downtown Dash 5K — Sat, July 25, 7am | Flagler Park, Stuart. Same Saturday morning as the car & bike show — make a full day of it.
'Merica... Farm Yeah! — Fri, July 31, 6–10pm | Hobe Sound Farms. Live country music and full Americana energy.
Friday Fest (27th Year!) — Fri, Aug 5, 5:30–9pm | Marina Square, Fort Pierce. The longest-running street party on the Treasure Coast turns 27.
SECTION 03 · NEW & NOTEWORTHY
Local News: The Treasure Coast is Building Fast
If it feels like there’s a construction crane on every corner right now, you’re not imagining it. Here’s what’s actually happening across the region.
Vero Beach — JetBlue is ending its Vero Beach–JFK route on September 9th. The Boston route stays in place, but it's a notable shift for local travelers who've relied on the JFK connection.
Palm City — Martin County approved a hotel site plan, a surplus land sale, and a P3 (public-private partnership) agreement right in our backyard.
Port St. Lucie — A new Aldi-anchored shopping center is on the way, adding another grocery and retail option to the west side of the county off Becker Rd and PSL Blvd.
Stuart — The Downtown Dock is closing for a $3M renovation. Expect some disruption downtown, but the upgrade has been a long time coming for one of Stuart's most-used waterfront spots.
The bottom line: growth is moving fast across Vero, Stuart, Fort Pierce, and Port St. Lucie, and it's going to shape traffic, home values, and daily life here for years to come.
SECTION 04 · RESIDENTIAL SPOTLIGHT
North Hutchinson Island, Fort Pierce
There’s a rare opportunity just hitting the market on North Hutchinson Island: a 14,500 sq. ft. vacant residential lot, zoned and ready, just steps from the Atlantic. This is one of Fort Pierce's most sought-after beachside enclaves, and blank canvases like this one don't come up often, most of the island is already built out. SECTION 05 · THE ROOFING & TRADES REPORT
This past Monday marked the start of Careers in Construction Week, put on by the Treasure Coast Builders Association and the Blue Collar Big Dollar foundation — a hands-on week where local students get to learn electrical, plumbing, roofing, HVAC, welding, and more, capped off with a hiring job fair.
This one hits close to home for Glen and me. As we build Storey Roofing and think about where we want this business to go over the next ten years, preparing the next generation of tradespeople isn't a side quest. It's part of the plan. There's a real gap right now between the demand for skilled trades and the number of young people being shown that path as a legitimate, respected career. Weeks like this one are how that gap starts to close — one student, one hands-on demo, one job fair conversation at a time.
If you know a student who's curious about a career in the trades, programs like this are exactly where to point them.
SECTION 06 · COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT
United Way of St. Lucie & Okeechobee
"Let's Help Port St. Lucie Bloom"
On Thursday, July 30, the United Way of St. Lucie and Okeechobee Counties and the Love Your Block program invite Port St. Lucie residents to Whispering Pines Park for a night to celebrate community pride and greener front yards. Registration is required, and all plants and trees provided are intended to enhance and brighten residential front yards throughout the neighborhood. Please bring a valid ID to confirm Port St. Lucie residency.
At this hands-on event, neighbors can craft their own front‑yard garden kits, pick up expert tips from UF/IFAS Extension, and head home with a free fruit tree, available while supplies last. The park also will come alive with colorful painting stations, flower planting activities and fun, family‑friendly decorating projects that inspire creativity and beautification.
